Forced displacement
Several civilian populations in Syria have been subject to horrific sieges and consequently forced to accept unlawful, forced displacement agreements.
Our campaign against forced displacement aims to bring grave human rights violations to an end. It also aims to provide a safe environment for the children of those forcibly displaced. We have documented all forced displacement crimes in Syria and continue to call on all human rights organizations to take action to stop future forced displacement attempts. In addition, this campaign calls on all parties to the conflict to include provisions that safeguard civilians and ensure their right to return to their homes in all future reconciliation and truce agreements.
According to Amnesty international: “The government’s campaign of sieges, unlawful killings and forced displacement, which has uprooted thousands of civilians and forced them to live in dire conditions, constitutes crimes against humanity.” [link to the Amnesty International report]
