Majdi Bashimam is a humanitarian activist committed to fostering positive, non-violent, and
structured social change. With nearly 12 years of experience in humanitarian aid and civil
society organization management, Majdi is dedicated to developing a progressive and efficient
culture within local Syrian NGOs.
His career began with the creation of the SMART initiative, where he transformed humanitarian
ideas into tangible projects and programs. Following a challenging period of detention, Majdi
relocated to Turkey, where he led organizational capacity-building programs for two years.
Joining Hurras Network was crucial to realizing his goal of building a better society for Syrians.
Starting as a Mainstream Child Protection Manager, he had the opportunity to advocate for child
protection minimum standards and convert these into actionable procedures and tools. This
work helped their team implement safe programs that are aligned with CPMS, providing the
proper response for children in education and protection, thereby ensuring their safety and
well-being.
Currently serving as a Program Manager at Hurras Network, Majdi is living his dream of being
part of an activist team that practices what they believe in and develops responses to create a
brighter future for Syrian children, where they can be safe, well, and educated.
