Walid Zayed holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting from the American University of Amman. He graduated in 2003. He joined Ernst & Young in the same year, where he worked in auditing and financial consulting.
Walid was commissioned to work in the firm’s branch in Syria where he developed his experience in several areas such as external and internal audit, financial consultancy, and feasibility studies within a range of sectors such as communications, oil and gas, private banking, pharmaceuticals, education, non-profits and industry.
In 2018, he joined the aviation and navigation giant Gitex Group, where he served as chief financial officer – a role, he believes, has enhanced his experience in managing teams remotely. In 2012 he started his own financial consultancy firm in Jordan, where he offered consultancy services to several companies in the food and restaurants sectors.
Walid’s connection to Hurras commenced in 2017 when he offered consultancy services to the Network’s management on a number of financial and operational matters. In 2018, he joined the Network’s head office in Turkey permanently as Operations Manager.
Walid Zayed is living proof that humanitarian organizations can be the right place for qualified professionals. He aims to apply the wealth of experience he obtained from the highly demanding commercial sector in Hurras’ daily operations, especially in the accounting, administrative, procurement, operations, auditing and governance systems.
Walid believes that NGOs can significantly grow by developing their employees’ competencies and improving their management systems – similar to large corporations – yet without losing their humanitarian spirit and goals.
He is known for his cheerful and energetic personality that never contradicts with his structured and consistent management approach.
Walid is married and is the father of two daughters.
